Another Student Builds Their Dream Home

Hi everyone. We have always said that the true measure of our training course is what happens afterward. The quality of the work of our students is our best marketing and the best testimonial for those courses.

Owner/Builder Drew took our training in the summer of 2019. After a couple of years of planning, prepping and permitting, Drew and his wife Lacey embarked on their dream build. In true owner/builder style they spent several summers building walls around raising young children and working to get to the last phase of finishing off the interior for the winter/spring of 2025/2026. This project again shows the versatility of Rammed Earth building systems to withstand seasonal changes in a northern climate with no adverse effects on the walls. When done correctly you can take your time building, even over the course mulitiple years!

This bungalow features 1900 square feet of interior space, an electric boiler with in floor heat and an efficient wood stove, all on 160 foot by 160 foot small town lot in Manitoba, Canada. That lot also provides plenty of outdoor space for their grain bin style raised garden beds and kid zones. And as designers we heartily approve of the generous veranda space!

I just couldn’t wait to share their project and they gave us permission to show what they have accomplished so far. We love it! What do you think? We will update with the finished project as soon as they are done.
