We honoured to be invited to be part of a team entry at the annual Royal Horticultural Society’s 2025 Chelsea Flower Show in London, England. The team was headed by landscape designers Matthew Butler & Josh of Parker Butler & Parker Garden Design , with studios based in North-East London and South Somerset. We were recruited to supervise the construction of the Rammed Earth Garden Shed that featured a living roof, composting toilet, Planting spills over the roof of the rammed-earth building surrounded by beds of climate-resilient crops and resilient planting in a pink, purple and white palette. Key plants include Sorghum bicolor, Cajanus cajan, Ipomoea batatas, Cistus × purpureus and Crataegus monogyna. A dip tank makes up part of a system of rainwater harvesting, integral to the climate-friendly design.
The entry was titled THE GARDEN OF THE FUTURE. Focusing on bio-diversity and featuring a wide array of climate-resilient ornamentals and crops, edible plants with multiple uses and properties, and tools that demonstrate how farmers, scientists, and communities are innovating to grow a healthier future both in the UK and globally.
