Charming and small or intimidating and well…as big as the Lord of the Manor wants to go, nothing beats the look and feel of natural stone. This type of build favours areas high in stone (of course). Like all of the natural building methods, simple stone masonry is not that difficult to learn.
I like to mix materials when building; earth, stone, timber, cob, copper and grass all blend together in ways unnatural materials just cannot seem to match.
